Halloween Parade!

Due to the rain out of the annual Octoberfest this year, we decided to hold our first ever Halloween Parade at the school! The children were so excited to change into their costumes at the end of the school day and march down to the playground. The Halloween singing circle usually seen at the Octoberfest was instead enjoyed on the wooden step.
I know lots of you were taking pictures during the parade and we could certainly use them for the school and yearbook. You can send them to Kacey at kaceyfarrell@gmail.com.

Diwali

We celebrated Diwali on October 12th in the primary classes and the toddlers celebrated on the 19th of October. We made dayas for lights and had wonderful treats from the parents. Some of us wore our Indian clothes.

VonThun Farms

We had a wonderful time at the farm on Wednesday, September 30. The weather was a little drippy but some of the parents used their umbrellas on the hayride to the pumpkin patch . We picked 3 apples each, had trike races through the haystakes, jumped in the bounce room, visited the farm animals, dug in the sand, got lost in the haystack maze and learned farm facts in the barn.

Playground Repair

The UMS playground is easily one of the favorite aspects of the school for the children and parents alike. The huge natural environment is a magical place for the children to run, explore and climb to their hearts' content. But after months of heavy rain, it took a bit of a beating, and needed some basic repair. Mary Ann asked for volunteers, enticing us with coffee and donuts, and all involved got a GOOD workout for the day!
And in true Montessori fashion, the littlest helper pitched in too!
