Artwork

Throughout the year, the children have learned about various artists, many from the Impressionist and Expressionist movements. One of the children in the Seagulls class did this representation of Van Gogh's Starry Night. Isn't this incredible? It has been proudly on display all year!I thought the parents might like to see a small glimpse of the artwork done throughout the year from all three classes. Enjoy! Behind the Scenes: End of the Year Group Photo

The PTO generously provided t-shirts again this year for all of the UMS children. An end of the year group photo was taken, which was originally going to be used for the yearbook cover. Although ultimately a different design was selected for the cover, you can see the official final group shot in the back of the yearbook, in the congrats and ads section. I thought it would be fun to see a little behind the scenes glimpse of the effort put into a group shot of this size! :)Once the shirts arrived, the teachers got to work sorting and passing them out to all of the students. The kids got dressed, and since it was a little chilly that morning most of them were wearing their big bulky coats underneath. The kids assembled on the playground......and the teachers and some parents started arranging the kids by class, trying to determine the best way to spread them all out for the nicest photo. The kids waited patiently for it all to be figured out! :)Once the kids were arranged, they grabbed each other's hands......which had this sappy mom a little choked up, I gotta say!Mary Ann looking pleased as punch with her amazing brood! And finally, here's one of the group shots (you can click on it to see a larger version). Great job everyone!
